Kasinostraße (Regional Network Project) -
Various renovation projects will be carried out in the area around Aachen’s main train station in the coming years. Work will begin on October 26 on Kasinostraße, where Regionetz will be renovating the sewer and utility lines. The work will continue through August 2027.
Immediately following that, in September 2027, the urgently needed renovation of the Burtscheider Bridge will begin. These two projects are interdependent in terms of both location and timing. Traffic diverted from Kasinostraße will be routed via Burtscheider Straße and the bridge. Public transportation will be rerouted via Eynattener Straße.

The City of Aachen, Aachener Stadtbetrieb, and Regionetz will provide information about the two construction projects and the detour routes during an online information session (via Zoom).

A detour will be signposted for the road closure in order to divert traffic to alternate routes in advance and keep traffic volume low in the residential area.

Routes 14, 14E, 34, 34E, 34V, and 54 will be rerouted via the local detour routes.

Lines 14 and 14 E – toward Eupen: Departures from this stop will be moved from H1 (Kurbrunnenstraße) to H2 (Römerstraße). Starting at the Normaluhr stop, buses will travel via: Kurbrunnenstraße – Friedrich-Ebert-Allee – Karl-Marx-Allee – Adenauerallee – Siegelallee – Salierallee – Eupener Straße to the Ronheider Weg stop.
Lines 34, 34E, 34V, and 54 – Toward Diepenbenden: Departures from the Normaluhr stop will be moved from H1 (Kurbrunnenstraße) to H3 (Dunantstraße). Starting at the Wallstraße stop, buses will travel via: Dunantstraße – Römerstraße – Lagerhausstraße – Mozartstraße – Habsburgerallee – Kamper Straße – Eynattener Straße – Krugenofen to the Burtscheid Sebastianstraße stop. In the opposite direction, buses will stop at the regular stops as usual. In addition, lines 34 and 54 will serve the Aachen Hauptbahnhof stop in both directions.
No alternate stops: No alternate stops will be set up for the Kapitelstraße and Burtscheid Hauptstraße stops.

Mobility Testing and Consulting Services for Businesses
A low-threshold program offering mobility vouchers is available to businesses located in the area; its purpose is to introduce employees who fear their mobility may be restricted due to the changed traffic situation to various mobility alternatives. This can help alleviate the burden on those affected. The following options are available for testing:
- Mobility credits that can be used to book various services (public transportation, car-sharing) in movA
- Coupon codes for free rides on the Euregiobike
- Free rides with various e-scooter providers
- Free “Quick Check” (mobility consultation) for businesses
To take advantage of this offer, please send an email to mobilitaetsmanagement@mail.aachen.de, including the following information: the name and address of your company, the number of employees, and any special notes or interests regarding the mobility program.
Services for Residents
Residents affected by the construction project can request voucher codes for free rides on the Euregiobike by emailing mobilitaetsmanagement@mail.aachen.de and specifying the construction project and their home address or how they are affected by the project.
Use of Bicycles and Bike-Sharing
If possible, please try to switch to a bicycle to help reduce traffic congestion. Please be sure to follow the local bicycle detours.

Residents have the option to receive free rides on Euregiobike through the City of Aachen during the closure period. To do so, they can send an email to mobilitaetsmanagement@mail.aachen.de.
There are currently 75 Euregiobike stations available in Aachen. Additional stations are being set up on an ongoing basis. In the area around Kasinostraße, the following Euregiobike stations are available for renting e-bikes: ISEA Jägerstraße, Normaluhr, Hackländerstraße, Hauptbahnhof, and Marschiertor.
All stations, including the number of available e-bikes, are listed in the movA and Nextbike apps.
Free Cargo Bike
There are over 20 cargo bikes in Aachen that can be borrowed free of charge. You can find information about locations, registering in the system, and the app here.
Free Trial Cargo Bike for Businesses
During the closure, the city administration is offering businesses in the Kasinostraße area the opportunity to test various cargo bike models free of charge. There are four different types of cargo bikes to choose from, some of which feature lockable storage compartments. Each bike can be borrowed for up to six weeks and thoroughly tested in everyday business operations.
