The third Aachen Citizens’ Council kicked off with a festive opening ceremony at City Hall. The citizens, selected at random from all parts of the city, came together for the first time. Their shared goal: to develop ideas on how mobility in Aachen can be made more balanced, equitable, and practical in the future.
The topic chosen was: Balanced Mobility in Aachen!
The Aachen Citizens’ Council is entering a new phase: Following an engaged and constructive discussion, the political representatives of the Citizens’ Forum selected the topic for the third Citizens’ Council by a large majority. The topic of mobility was well-received and will be the focus of the Citizens’ Council’s events in the summer of 2025.
A total of 61 topics were submitted; 33 of them ultimately reached the quorum of 125 supporters.
The selection of the five finalists was the responsibility of the Citizens’ Assembly Steering Committee, which included not only members of the Citizens’ Assembly Initiative but also members of the first Citizens’ Assembly.
The Citizens’ Forum will decide which topic is selected on June 4 during a public meeting at the Eurogress.

The first permanent Citizens’ Assembly will convene in the fall of 2023 to address this issue.
The next meeting of the Citizens' Forum will take place on April 18, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of St. Leonhard High School, located at Jesuitenstraße 9.
