Traces of National Socialism in Aachen – „Wege gegen das Vergessen“ (Paths against Forgetting) Guided tour in English

This dialogical walking tour through Aachen’s city center explores selected sites of the „Wege gegen das Vergessen“ as well as other historical locations. It provides insights into the city’s history during the National Socialist era and illustrates how these events are commemorated today.
With a focus on Aachen’s population, the tour examines who carried out the nationalist, antisemitic, and racist violence of the regime, who benefited from it, and who became victims or engaged in acts of resistance.

Ein dialogischer Spaziergang durch die Aachener Innenstadt, der anhand ausgewählter Stationen der „Wege gegen das Vergessen“ und weiterer historischer Orte einen Einblick in die Geschichte Aachens während des Nationalsozialismus gibt und aufzeigt, wie an diese erinnert wird.
Mit Blick auf die Aachener Bevölkerung erfährt man, wer die völkische, antisemitische und rassistische Gewalt des Regimes ausführte, wer von ihr profitierte und wer ihr zum Opfer fiel und/oder Widerstand leistete.
