Housing should be designed in such a way that people feel comfortable and can live there without major restrictions. In principle, both tenants and landlords as well as owners are responsible for this. If an agreement cannot be reached between the parties in the event of housing defects, the housing inspectorate can provide support - for example in the event of heating failures, problems with water supply and disposal, damp in the apartment and similar existential emergencies. This does not apply to self-inflicted damage or purely cosmetic defects.

The Housing Inspectorate is responsible for implementing tasks in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia Housing Improvement Act. The aim of this law is to improve housing conditions where necessary and to ensure proper usability.

But when and how do you contact the housing inspectorate? Not everyone knows that they are not left alone with their questions and problems. That's why the Housing Inspectorate of the City of Aachen has published a new flyer that briefly and concisely explains the tasks of the Housing Inspectorate and provides contact details.

The flyer is now available at the following distribution points: the municipal district offices, the Citizens' Service at Katschhof, the administrative buildings in Hackländerstraße and Lagerhausstraße, the Talstraße depot, the Nadelfabrik and the municipal library. The flyer will also be distributed at the Jobcenter and the health department of StädteRegion Aachen.
