New "electronic residence registration" online service successfully launchedregistration

The city administration of Aachen has successfully introduced a new online service for citizens. Since April 1, citizens have been able to register and re-register their primary residence online: conveniently, securely and without an appointment on site. Over 800 people have already used this new service within just a few weeks.

In the long term, the "electronic registration of residence" will reduce the number of personal visits to register and re-register a place of residence. By reducing the number of appointments, the Citizens' Service staff can offer more appointments for services that still require a personal visit. This should also reduce waiting times. "The digitalization of our services brings concrete benefits for the people of Aachen - more flexibility, fewer waiting times and modern access to administration. After successful registration or re-registration, the vehicle registration certificate can also be changed online and the resident parking permit can be applied for digitally," explains Paulina Lut, Head of Citizen Services. "We are delighted with the positive response and would like to thank everyone who has already used the new service."

Access requirements and support

The prerequisite for using the electronic residence registration is the BundID in conjunction with the online ID card (eID function). Anyone who has not yet set the pin for the online ID can do so without an appointment during opening hours at the information desks of the Citizens' Service Katschhof and Bahnhofplatz.

For questions and assistance, the Servicecenter Call Aachen is available under the authority number 115 from Monday to Friday between 7 am and 6 pm. Citizens can obtain comprehensive support on all aspects of the BundID and all online services of the City of Aachen.
