City of Aachen still looking for election assistants
The City of Aachen is still looking for around 500 electoral assistants for the municipal elections on September 14 and, if necessary, the run-off election on September 28, 2025. A total of around 2,300 electoral assistants are needed to successfully conduct the elections on election day.
The ballot box assistant teams meet at 7.30 a.m. on election Sunday at the allocated polling station. The postal voting team meets at 1 pm. Polling time is from 8 am to 6 pm. From 6 p.m., polling assistants count the ballot papers and determine the election result as a team. There will be time for breaks. For their commitment, helpers receive a "refreshment allowance" of €50 to €60, depending on their role on the election committee (election chairman, deputy or assessor).
On the website aachen.de/wahlhilfe, interested electoral assistants can obtain information and also register directly with the electoral office using a form in the city's service portal. The service is available to anyone aged 16 and over with a German ID card or European eID card in the City of Aachen's service portal. The prerequisite for using the online service is authentication using the bundID with name and password.
Anyone who meets the requirements can become a poll worker for this year's local elections. The online form asks whether you would like to work in the local elections on September 14 and/or in a possible run-off election on September 28. You can also indicate whether you would prefer to work in a postal or polling station and what role you would like to play on the electoral board. In addition, validation rules are stored so that the query is not continued if one of the conditions is not met.
If you would like to apply by e-mail, you can do so at wahlhilfe@mail.aachen.de.
