Agriculture in the city" event for young and old
The city of Aachen is organizing a festival for the future of agriculture on Saturday, 14 September, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Münsterplatz. The aim is to make the people working on climate-friendly and sustainable agriculture visible. The "Round Table for Sustainable Agriculture and Food" network, which promotes an open and personal exchange, will be at the forefront.
Mayor Sibylle Keupen will open the event at 10 am. Afterwards, the Round Table will be used for a joint dialog with farmers, volunteers and municipal employees. Over Fairtrade coffee and regional apple juice, visitors can find out about the processing of regional food, the various farms and much more.
At the same time, information stands, for example from the Aachen Food Council or the Nabu nature conservation station, will show how you can also support sustainable agriculture in your everyday life. For weekend shopping, seasonal and regional products can be purchased directly from the farmer. There will be a painting table for the little ones and children's book readings at 11 a.m. (for nursery school children) and 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. (both for primary school children), supported by the Schmetz bookshop. The event takes place parallel to the organic market.
The "Round Table for Sustainable Agriculture and Food" has been in existence for almost three years and was initiated by the city of Aachen. Regular meetings are held to discuss long-term, sustainable land management and regional value chains.
