Transferring data and sending e-mails - but securely!
Secure communication and the protected exchange of files with our citizens is an important issue for us. In particular, data transmission by simple email has regularly proved to be problematic, as emails are basically "like a postcard". This means that the content of unencrypted emails, just like a postcard, can also be read by unauthorized persons.
To eliminate this problem, we use the SecuMails solution from the Munich-based software company FTAPI Software GmbH. This offers data protection-compliant end-to-end encryption for messages and the data they contain.
Citizens can send us messages as well as files such as construction plans, applications, etc. online via end-to-end encrypted "submit boxes". The use of FTAPI does not incur any costs for citizens. No additional software is required.
When you receive files from us, you may be asked to register as a guest with FTAPI. By registering, we enable you to communicate with our authority securely and in compliance with data protection regulations. Please follow the instructions from FTAPI for the download.
Development, support and operation of the platform take place entirely in Germany. Your sensitive data is processed and stored exclusively in German data centers.

What is FTAPI SecuMails?
With FTAPI SecuMails, you can send and receive sensitive data easily and securely directly via the browser or from Microsoft Outlook, regardless of the file size. SecuMails is developed, hosted and operated in Germany and offers - depending on the security level selected - the option of transmitting data end-to-end encrypted. SecuMails does not require complicated certificates and is therefore as simple as sending a normal email. SecuMails is therefore the secure alternative to S/Mime, PGP or even insecure file-sharing platforms.
Why is SecuMails more secure than Dropbox, WeTransfer & Co.
SecuMails offers four security levels for data transfer that you can select. In levels 3 and 4, SecuMails offers genuine end-to-end encryption based on its own SecuPass technology. Only the respective communication partners are able to decrypt this data. All data is also stored in secure data centers in Germany and is not transferred to insecure third countries. Numerous other security features such as virus scanners and brute force detection provide additional security.
What technical requirements do I need to fulfill?
All you need is Internet access. That's all you need... no proprietary software, infrastructure or anything else. There is also no need to exchange complicated certificates or send passwords manually for end-to-end encryption. With the automatic key exchange, everything is very simple.
How do I send and receive data with SecuMails?
You can easily send data via the browser or directly from Microsoft Outlook. No special knowledge is required. Communication partners can also easily send data via SecuMails. One option for this is the SubmitBox, a digital mailbox.
