With ten upcoming meetings, the local government calendar is once again filling up significantly. Among other items on the agenda are meetings of the Committee on Climate and the Environment, the Mobility Committee, and several district councils.

Tuesday, September
8: The Committee on Climate and the Environment will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council chamber. Among other items, Aachen’s first sustainability report will be presented. In addition, the meeting will look back on 20 years of NABU—the Aachen Nature Conservation Station—and present the 2027 Forestry Plan for the city’s forests as a whole.

Also at 5:00 p.m., the Aachen Event Works Council meeting will take place in the Sky Lounge at the Tivoli Aachen. There will be a review of the 2026 Historic Fair in Kornelimünster, and an update on the roof renovation at the Eurogress will be presented. In addition, Aachen Event’s interim financial report for the second quarter of 2026 will be presented.

Wednesday, September
9: The Aachen-Mitte District Council will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber. This Wednesday, the land-use and structural concept for the Aachen Rothe Erde industrial area will be presented. The council motion on the topic of “Development of the ‘Christus unser Friede’ parcel” will also be heard at this meeting. Furthermore, the “landscape design for the Haus der Neugier” will be discussed as a key component of the development of the eastern part of the city center.

Also at 5:00 p.m., the Committee on Labor, Economy, Science, and Regional Development will meet in the conference room of Haus Löwenstein to discuss the following topics: the land-use and structural plan for the Aachen Rothe Erde industrial area, the status report on the KreislaufWIRKstatt Aachen funding project, and the feasibility study for the rear Galeria property.

The Aachen-Brand District Council will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Aachen-Brand District Office on Paul-Küpper-Platz. Key topics include the redesign of the entrance area and the implementation of further measures to enhance the environmental quality of the Kolpingstraße cemetery, the 2026 priority list for minor projects, the acceleration of the implementation of minor projects, and the 2026 priority list for street lighting systems.

The Aachen-Eilendorf District Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the meeting room on Heinrich-Thomas-Platz. The council will discuss the plans for the “Auf Trimpersfeld” development by Deutsche Reihenhaus AG and receive a progress report on the Montessori School construction project. In addition, plans for the private construction project to renovate the former St. Severin parish hall will be presented.

At 6:00 p.m., the Aachen-Haaren District Council will meet in the conference room of the community center at Germanusstraße 38. The agenda includes the design and maintenance of the flower beds at the Welsche Mühle and in the park there, the future of the “Zur Scheidmühle” pedestrian bridge at the Eilendorf wastewater treatment plant, and the 2025 Annual Report on Urban Development Funding.

Also at 6:00 p.m., the Aachen-Richterich District Council will meet in the meeting room on the first floor of Schönau Castle. The council will hear a progress report on the preservation and further development of the Horbach/Locht Customs Museum. In addition, the expansion project for the Richterich Community Elementary School and the progress report on the road resurfacing at the Roermonder Straße/Horbacher Straße intersection will be discussed.

Thursday, September
10: The Mobility Committee will begin its deliberations at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council chamber. The agenda includes, among other items, the transportation development plan “Mobility Strategy 2030 – Mobility Status Report 2025,” the reorganization of street space in connection with the necessary sewer renovation on Wilhelmstraße, and the administration’s revised approach to marking bicycle lanes in red.

Finally, the Personnel and Administration Committee will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the Campus Conference Room (SG113) at Maria-Theresia-Allee 38. Topics will include the City of Aachen’s workplace integration management program and current developments in the municipal Department of Citizen Services. In addition, policymakers will receive a report on the impact of the budget freeze on personnel and administration.
