The Aachen Public Works Department is repairing damaged pavement sections on Adalbertstraße. Work between Peterstraße and Kugelbrunnen (Adalbertstraße 25–51) will begin on October 12 and is scheduled to be completed by November 13, 2026.

The goal of this project is to improve the physical condition of the heavily trafficked pedestrian zone in time for the start of the Aachen Christmas Market on November 20. By completing the work by November 13, the city’s public works department is ensuring that the central walkways will be fully accessible and safe for the expected increase in visitors during the pre-Christmas season.

To minimize disruption to traffic on this section of the street, there will be no widespread repaving. Instead, existing damage to the pavement will be repaired in a targeted, selective manner, working in rotating sections. All adjacent stores and restaurants will remain accessible at all times throughout the construction phase.

The Aachen Municipal Authority asks passersby, residents, and local business owners for their understanding regarding the unavoidable, temporary restrictions in the construction zone.
