Carnival-like! Öcher senior citizens know how to celebrate
For the 57th time, the two carnival sessions organized by the "Ageing in Aachen" control centre in cooperation with the Oecher Penn took place in the Eurogress on 3 and 4 February. The two sessions were once again a lot of fun for Aachen's older revellers and active carnivalists.
The carnivalists, who as always performed free of charge, were frenetically cheered on. The audience swayed to the evergreens, listened attentively to the speeches and admired the dance routines and acrobatics of the groups. The hall, which was booked to the last seat, shook at the end of the sessions when Aachen Prince Lukas I entered.
In detail: the singing groups "Nightwiever", "Et Ruestäzzje", "Hubert Aretz", "Oecher Troubadoure", "ForFun", "Hans Montag", "Oecher Stadtmusikanten" and "Krawall".
After the entry of the "Oecher Penn" city guard, the "PTSV Aachen children's show dance group", "Rathausgarde Duemjroefe", "Showtanzgruppe der Vennkatzen", "KG Horbacher Freunde Junioren", "KG Benediktiner Jonge" and the "Blue Royal Gardetanzkorps e. V." marched in.
The carnival speakers Alfred Wings as "Der Lange" and "De Möscheköpp" created an exuberant atmosphere. Both sessions concluded with the appearance of his royal highness Prince Lukas I, with his entourage and of course the Prinzengarde, who got the hall going.
The organization and moderation of both sessions was in the proven hands of the Stadtgarde Oecher Penn von 1857 e. V.. While the first session was chaired by the commander Georg Cosler, the second session was led by deputy commander Tim Aretz. Our thanks go to the two session leaders as well as to the city guards, who marched in with their guardsmen and market women.
The medical services of the German Red Cross, the Malteser Hilfsdienst and the Johanniter Unfallhilfe as well as the Aachen Fire Brigade and the Aachen Traffic Cadets ensured that everything ran smoothly and safely both in front of and behind the stage. A number of members of the Senior Citizens' Council of the City of Aachen were also willing to help on both days in the Eurogress and contribute to the success of the sessions. A big thank you to these volunteers as well.
Many thanks also go to the numerous sponsors of the events:
Die Carolus Thermen Bad Aachen, Caritasverband für die Regionen Aachen-Stadt und Aachen-Land e. V., Arbeiterwohlfahrt Kreisverband Aachen-Stadt e. V., NetAachen, STAWAG, Firma Philippen - Tiefbau GmbH, Sparkasse, Haus Hörn and APAG.
