"Symphonic fairy tales": Fall concert with the Aachen Youth Symphony Orchestra
The Aachen Youth Symphony Orchestra invites you to its fall concert at the Church of the Resurrection on Sunday, November 9. Under the motto "Symphonic Fairy Tales", the approximately 45 young classical music enthusiasts will present a varied program under the direction of Alexander Scherf.
Over the past few months, the orchestra has rehearsed intensively on works by Schubert, Weber, Massenet and Rimsky-Korsakov, which offer the strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion numerous opportunities to showcase their tonal colors. At the heart of the program is "The Tale of Tsar Saltan", a magnificently orchestrated suite from the opera of the same name by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The story is based on a fairy tale by Alexander Pushkin. The famous "Méditation" by Jules Massenet comes from his opera "Thaïs", which is about an ancient Egyptian female figure of the same name.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra is a cooperation between the Aachen Music School and the Aachen Symphony Orchestra. In its work, the Youth Symphony Orchestra can draw on the expertise of the Aachen Symphony Orchestra as part of a "tutti-pro" orchestra sponsorship that has been in place since 2010.
