Richterich: Berensberger Strasse is being renovated

Aachener Stadtbetrieb is having the road surface in Berensberger Straße in Richterich repaired as part of the major asphalt works. This concerns the area between Roermonder Straße and the bridge over Kohlscheider Straße. The work will be carried out in three sections between Monday, June 2 and probably Thursday, July 31. It is necessary to completely close the affected area in each case. Access to the courtyards and garages will be restricted during the construction period. The side roads for pedestrians and cyclists will remain open.

Following preparatory work, the asphalt surface will be milled off in the entire construction area described above on Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6. There will be disruptions for motor vehicle traffic. The asphalt surface will then be repaired in three sections.

First construction phase

In a first section, work will be carried out in the area between Roermonder Straße and the Elsenborn/Parkstraße junction. This will take place from Monday, June 2, until probably Monday, June 23. The roadworks will be carried out under full road closure, although access can be made possible by arrangement. The new asphalt surface will be laid from Thursday, June 12, 3 pm to Saturday, June 14, 8 am. No vehicle traffic will then be permitted on the entire road section. The Parkstraße bus stop in the direction of Roermonder Straße will be closed.

Second construction phase

From Tuesday, June 24 to Friday, July 4, the renovation work will be carried out in the second section. This relates to the section between the Elsenborn/Parkstraße junction and Schloss-Schönau-Straße. Here, too, work will be carried out under full road closure. Access is possible after consultation with the construction company. The asphalt surface will be laid from Monday, June 30, 3 pm to Wednesday, July 2, 8 am. No vehicle traffic is permitted on this section.

During the first two construction phases in Richterich, traffic will be diverted via Schloss-Schönau-Straße onto Roermonder Straße. The bus stops between Parkstraße and Schloss-Schönau-Straße will be closed.

Third construction phase

The third construction phase covers the area between the Schloss-Schönau-Straße junction and the bridge over Kohlscheider Straße. The work here is expected to be carried out between Monday, July 7 and Thursday, July 31. The final asphalt paving is scheduled for the period from Sunday, July 27, 3 pm to Tuesday, July 29, 8 am. Residents will be able to access Richtericher Straße at all times. The detour for the third construction phase will be signposted and will lead via Ferberberg and Schlossparkstraße to Roermonder Straße in Laurensberg. The Richterich Siebweg bus stop will be closed.

Parking in the ancillary facilities and on the roadside is prohibited during the work in the respective construction phases. The work may cause noise and dirt nuisance. Appropriate protective measures will be taken to keep this to a minimum. When laying the asphalt surface, it is strongly recommended not to walk on the sprayed road surface, as there is a risk of permanently soiling clothing. The same applies to driving on it with vehicles.

Renovation urgently required

Given the poor condition of the road surface, the asphalt renovation of Berensberger Straße at this point in time is absolutely essential and cannot be postponed. This is the only way to guarantee that road safety is maintained for all road users on Berensberger Straße.
