City cycling 2025 starts on June 1 at Neumarkt

As part of the city's "FahrRad in Aachen" campaign, Aachen is once again taking part in the Germany-wide city cycling competition ((www.stadtradeln.de/aachen). From June 1 to June 21, 2025, all residents of Aachen are called upon to pedal hard and enter their professional and private cycling kilometers in the city's online cycling calendar. Every kilometer counts!

"If you want to take part, you don't necessarily have to cycle more than usual and you don't have to give up your car. It's enough if all Aachen residents register the kilometers they cycle anyway for the city of Aachen," explains Dr. Stephanie Küpper, project manager of the city's "FahrRad in Aachen" campaign.

Anyone interested can register now, but also at any time during the city cycling campaign, and enter the kilometers cycled in the online calendar. The calendar will be activated on June 1. School classes, clubs and companies are invited to form their own teams and register at the following address: https://www.stadtradeln.de/registrieren/.

The kick-off event is on Sunday, June 1

The city's "FahrRad in Aachen" campaign, together with the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub (ADFC) and the Caritas social association, invites you to the start of this year's city cycling event on Sunday, June 1, at 10.30 a.m. on the Neumarkt in the Frankenberger Viertel. Four guided bike tours start at 11 am. They are advertised on the ADFC tour portal. Those interested must register for three of these tours.

Several rickshaws from the Caritas association will also be present at Neumarkt. These vehicles are used by volunteer drivers to transport older people with limited mobility.

City cycling star

This year, a city cycling star is at the start for the city of Aachen. The 17-year-old high school graduate Henry Veysey is not allowed to see the inside of a car during the campaign period. He is allowed to use the bus and train. Henry Veysey is a pupil at Inda-Gymnasium and a passionate racing cyclist. He has already cycled around 29,000 kilometers in one year.

School cycling competition

There is a school cycling competition for schools. The aim is to get pupils fit for cycling in everyday life and in their free time and thus promote independent mobility among children and young people. Through this

This campaign allows participants to lay the foundations for sustainable mobility behavior at a young age. The most bicycle-active school is sought in the school cycling competition. All participating schools will be welcomed in the Coronation Hall on December 9, 2024 and presented with a certificate.

Cycling summer 2025

This year's Aachen Cycling Summer is a good opportunity to cycle a few kilometers for Aachen as part of the City Cycling 2025. It is now taking place for the 31st time. As in previous years, a circular route will be signposted into the fall. This year, the tour goes to the natural monuments in the city.

The opening tour under the motto "Erradeln Naturdenkmäler erradeln" starts on Sunday, June 15, at 1.30 p.m. on the market in front of the town hall. Anyone interested can request the flyer for this year's tour from Stephanie Küpper: fahrrad-in-aachen@mail.aachen.de.

Clandestine tours through Aachen

On Wednesday, June 18, the city's "FahrRad in Aachen" campaign is offering two different shortcut tours through Aachen. Cyclists do not need to use the main roads to get from A to B in Aachen. There are many routes that can be taken away from the busy roads. You can often also avoid inclines.

The first tour, "On secret paths through Aachen", starts on June 18 at 6 pm and lasts until around 6.45 pm. It is 5.8 kilometers long. The second tour, "On secret routes through Aachen", is 7.6 kilometers long. It starts at 6.45 pm and lasts until around 7.45 pm. Both tours start at the Elisenbrunnen. Binding registration is required by Monday, June 16, with Stephanie Küpper: fahrrad-in-aachen@mail.aachen.de. Participation is free of charge.
