The historic staircase at the Abteigarten in Aachen-Kornelimünster cannot be used on Thursday, May 15, between 8 am and 1 pm. The reason for this is the renewal of the markings on the steps leading from Napoleonsberg to the Abteigarten. The markings on the edges of the steps improve visibility and thus increase safety.

The renewal of the markings goes back to a request from the Aachen Children's Forum last year, in which children from Kornelimünster elementary school pointed out sources of danger on the stairs. One request was to renew the markings on the edges of the steps, which is now being implemented. Another idea, to extend the railing at the start of the steps, is also being planned. The exact date for the start of the construction work has not yet been set, but a company has already been commissioned.
