Contemporary puppet theater in space
The "Animations" series with contemporary puppet theater in the Ludwig Forum space on Jülicher Straße continues with four performances from September. Contemporary puppet theater encompasses a wide range of aesthetic means and scenic possibilities. It combines impulses and inspirations from all the arts. The "Animations" series by the City of Aachen's cultural department in cooperation with artistic director Stephan Wunsch provides insights into this range. The animated figure is at the center of the productions shown.
The four screening dates are:
Friday, September 19, 7:30 p.m.

The journey of the "Prince of Darkness" from Transylvania to London with the aim of establishing a world domination of the undead and the fierce battle of his opponents is presented with a range of different means of puppet theater, drama and lots of live music.

Based on the children's book by Torben Kuhlmann
The small, gray mouse lives a solitary life as a lodger in an attic apartment. One evening, she makes a momentous discovery: a telescope pointed at the night sky. Curious as she is, she dares to take a look inside, and there it is: the big, yellow moon!
With great enthusiasm, our little hero sets to work investigating the secret of the moon. To do so, he decides to develop a vehicle with which he can shoot himself to the moon and thus get proof of what the moon really is.
Friday, November 14, 7:30 p.m.
"Gundermann - Angels over the district" / Theater Korona
High school student and unskilled worker, officer candidate and refuser of orders, SED comrade and outlaw, unruly buddy and IM, later vegetarian, mouthpiece of the people in Lusatia, doer and naysayer. Gerhard Gundermann was pretty much everything you could be in the GDR. He drove an excavator - and sang, wrote and acted. Someone who was on fire at two ends. He wanted to live five dreams, he said about himself in an interview. Gundi" worked for over twenty years in an open-cast lignite mine in Lusatia. His songs live on: "Gras", "Alle oder keiner" and, of course, "Engel über dem Revier". How do you get close to this Gerhard Gundermann? The production searches for him in texts, scenes, music with puppet theater, light and shadow.
Saturday, November 15, 3 p.m.
"Alfred in the straw and elsewhere" / Laku Paka
Alfred is a funny bird. He has the strength and size of an eagle, yet he sits in the henhouse with the chickens. All he wants is to become a good clucking bird. But almost all the hens are against him. And even the cockerel would rather chase Alfred off the farm today than tomorrow. Because Alfred is just too 'un-chicken-like'! If it weren't for Rosi, the brave little hen, who likes Alfred just the way he is. A story that begins with a parentless egg and ends with the majestic flight of an eagle.
