The winter road clearance team of Aachen's municipal services has been in full operation since 3 a.m. and has been working flat out to ensure road safety in the city of Aachen since the early hours of the morning. Due to the persistent weather conditions, only the main roads can be kept passable so far. This has had an impact on waste collection.

Waste collection can therefore not be carried out in full today, Thursday, January 9. This affects the collection of residual waste, organic waste and paper as well as the collection of yellow bags by private Entsorgungsgesellschaft Niederrhein mbH (EGN) on behalf of Duale Systeme. Christmas trees, which are due to be collected today according to the waste calendar, cannot be collected everywhere either. Residents are asked to simply leave the garbage cans, bags and Christmas trees that are not collected today. The municipal company and EGN will make up for this at the next possible date.

Residents of streets that are not served by the city's winter services are asked to take their waste garbage cans and, if necessary, Christmas trees to the nearest passable street.

The recycling centers in Aachen-Eilendorf and Aachen-Brand will open at the usual time.
