Adalbertsteinweg: Sewer is broken

The sewer on Adalbertsteinweg between Reichsweg and Weißenburger Straße is more severely damaged than initially assumed. It has collapsed over a length of around 14 meters. Regionetz has now started to repair the damage. But this is time-consuming. In order to access the broken sewer, a water pipe must first be laid above the sewer. The construction work that has already begun is therefore expected to take up to four months.

The damaged sewer is located under the bus lane towards the city center and partly under the sidewalk. The bus lane has now been closed to reduce the load on the sewer from above.

During the construction work, motor vehicle traffic in the direction of the city center can only be guided past the construction site in one lane. Normally, two lanes and a bus lane are available here. Cyclists can also use this bus lane.

During the construction work, the sidewalk should have a residual width of two meters at best. It has been cleared for bicycle traffic. Cyclists are asked to ride carefully on the sidewalk or to push their bicycles.

The new construction site is located in a special environment. Reichsweg is already closed. Regionetz is laying new district heating pipes there. The entrance from Adalbertsteinweg into Weißenburger Straße is also closed due to the current damage, but the exit from Weißenburger Straße is still possible.

Motor vehicle traffic will be diverted to the left-hand lane at Aachen-Arkaden. Buses will have a few extra meters and can merge into the left-hand lane at Reichsweg.

Work will only be carried out between 9 am and 5 pm. In the late afternoon, the construction site will be dismantled as far as possible. On Fridays, the construction company will only work until 12 noon during the Christmas market.
