On September 14, 2025, the integration council election will take place at the same time as the municipal election. This is a separate election with a separate list of eligible voters. All eligible voters in Aachen are to be sent a yellow election notification by August 24. Anyone who does not receive a voter's notification and meets the requirements for eligibility to vote has the opportunity to be entered in the register of eligible voters until September 2. People with an international background are eligible to vote. This includes people who not only have German citizenship, have been naturalized or are the children of foreign parents and have become German by birth. Furthermore, they must have reached the age of 16 and have been legally resident in the Federal Republic of Germany for at least one year, including being registered in the city of Aachen since at least August 29, 2025.

The Integration Council represents the interests of people with an international family history. The work of the Integration Council aims to promote tolerance and respect at all levels of life, including work, education, social and cultural participation. The council consists of 21 members, 14 elected representatives and seven council members.
