Baroque music in focus
As part of the early music festival "Fonte vivace", young and adult amateurs will present the results of their three-month study of Baroque chamber music on Sunday, May 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the Salvatorkirche am Lousberg.
In the EU Music Workshop "Focus on Baroque Music", ensembles from the Music School of the City of Aachen and the Music Academy of the German-speaking Community of East Belgium joined forces to focus intensively on historical performance practice. After thorough preparatory work by their instrumental and vocal teachers, all workshop participants were given three days of coaching by expert Ulrike Schaar, baroque cellist with Concerto Köln and others.
The string players were able to try out the special features of articulation with borrowed baroque bows, the singers practised expressive, eloquent singing and the wind players coordinated their ornamentation under expert guidance. The final concert with works by Monteverdi, Telemann, Handel, Schickardt and Pepusch will be moderated by Martin Hoffmann, violist in the Aachen Symphony Orchestra.
Admission to the concert is free; donations to the Friends of the Music School are requested.
