Used clothing collection in the city of Aachen is changing

  • From January onwards, used textiles can be handed in at the recyclables mobile and at the green waste containers.
  • Other collection points are the used clothing containers set up in private areas.
  • Used textiles can only be reused or recycled if they are collected properly.

From January 2025, Aachener Stadtbetrieb will offer a way to dispose of used clothing. Due to changes in the Recycling Management Act, it is necessary for used textiles to be collected separately by the public waste disposal authority, which for the city of Aachen is Aachener Stadtbetrieb. From January 2025, there will be various collection options for the citizens of Aachen.

Various delivery options

On the one hand, used clothing containers are available at the municipal recycling centers in Aachen-Brand and Aachen-Eilendorf. On the other hand, used textiles can be handed in at the recycling center. From January 2025, it will also be possible to hand in used clothing at the green waste containers at the respective location times. This new drop-off option will initially be a one-year pilot project and will be extended if the service is well received.

The times and locations of the recycling vehicle and the green waste containers can be found in the municipal waste calendar or on the City of Aachen's service portal.

Other drop-off options include used clothing containers set up on private land and operated by commercial or charitable organizations.

If used textiles are collected properly, they can be reused or recycled. If other waste is disposed of in this way, the used clothing cannot be reused. This results in higher waste fees and the ecological benefits of separate collection are reduced.
