"Welcome to Team City. I am delighted that you are here!" With these words, Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen welcomed over 120 new trainees today, August 1, in the Coronation Hall of City Hall. The total of 164 new trainees in the areas of administration, education, the industrial-technical sector and the fire department show how important the City of Aachen is in promoting young talent in many different training professions.
Keupen encourages all junior employees: "Tell us things that catch your eye. We are open to listening to your suggestions. Because you have a fresh perspective on our processes and can contribute to making our administration even better and more citizen-friendly with your ideas and solutions. You are now an active part of the future of our city"
Head of Human Resources Dr. Markus Kremer presented the prospective colleagues with the diverse and exciting range of tasks in local government and encouraged the trainees: "Stand up for the citizens of our city and help to ensure that this city functions well. Despite all your ambition and commitment, don't be too hard on yourself if things don't go so well; after all, the purpose of training is not only to develop your professional skills, but also your personality and to grow with your tasks!"
Heinrich Brötz, Head of the Department for Education, Youth and Culture, particularly welcomed the large group of trainee educators, childcare workers and trainees at the open all-day schools and daycare centers: "I am delighted that you are here. Many of you will shape the next generation of Öchers. You will be responsible for the future of this city. This is a very responsible task, but also a very rewarding one." A total of 56 nursery teachers have been recruited, 35 of whom are starting practice-integrated training (PiA/Erzieher*in (26) and PiA/Kinderpflege (9)) and eleven nursery teacher trainees in their year of recognition. For the first time, ten people are starting the dual study program in social work in cooperation with the Catholic University of Applied Sciences.
The budding make-up artist, dressmaker and event technician are also future employees in his department.
The last word belonged to Birgit Krott, Head of Training: "Training is a matter close to our hearts. My team and I are looking forward to an exciting and high-quality training period with them."
