Green waste container
Our green waste containers are available for you once a week at 26 locations in Aachen. You can not only drop off your garden waste here, but also individual small electrical appliances (cell phones, hair dryers, razors, etc.) and old textiles. In addition, tree and shrub cuttings are collected free of charge twice a year. Decorated Christmas trees are also collected.

This belongs in the container

Dates and locations
Waste up to one cubic meter is accepted. That is about four large garbage cans. Larger quantities of green waste (over one cubic meter) can be deposited at the Brand compost site (Camp Pirotte 50, 52078 Aachen) for a fee.

Tree and shrub cuttings collection
We collect your tree and shrub cuttings twice a year free of charge (spring and fall).
This is how it works:
- Quantity: A maximum of two cubic meters of yard waste per pickup.
- Preparation: The material must be bundled. Bundles may only be tied with natural twine, must be no longer than 1.50 meters, and must weigh no more than 20 kg.
- Registration: You must register in advance by calling 0241 432-18666 or on the Aachen City Services website.
Christmas tree collection
Christmas trees are collected every year in January in the city center close to the property.
- Christmas trees are collected every year in January in the city center close to the property. Place your fully decorated Christmas tree at the roadside or where your waste garbage cans are located in the public street area. The collection dates for your property can be found in the waste calendar.
- Residents in the outer districts can dispose of their Christmas trees at the recycling centers and compost containers during the respective opening hours.
- Christmas trees must not exceed a length of two meters. Larger trees must be sawn into two smaller pieces.
- Christmas trees in bags will not be taken away.
- The Aachener Stadtbetrieb expressly points out that Christmas trees may only be placed at the roadside or the respective staging area until 7 a.m. on the respective disposal day. After the disposal day, Christmas trees can only be handed in at the recycling centers and compost containers during the usual opening hours.
