Economy for the common good

The City of Aachen's facility management is the first municipal facility management system in Germany to be certified in accordance with the principles of the Global Economy and is therefore a pioneer in this area. This is an important step in the reorientation towards sustainable development goals and the common good.

For the company, working according to the principle of the Economy for the Common Good means not only measuring economic success, but also making a contribution to social justice, ecological sustainability and co-determination.

What is the Economy for the Common Good?

The Economy for the Common Good is an economic approach that focuses not only on profit, but also on the well-being of people, the environment and society. Companies and organizations are evaluated according to how sustainably, socially just and democratically they act.

Certification and importance

Certification is based on a common good balance sheet, which checks how fairly the company treats its employees, suppliers and the environment.

Through environmentally friendly construction, regional economic development and transparent decisions, building management provides added value for society.

This award confirms that economic activity can be combined with social and ecological responsibility.

Common good certificate

The certificate provides a clear presentation of the assessment results in the areas of sustainability and the common good. At the same time, it serves as official confirmation by an external auditor that the common good balance sheet of the City of Aachen's facility management has been prepared and audited in accordance with the criteria of the common good economy.

This certificate shows an overview of the results of the assessment of building management according to the criteria of the ECG by an external audit.
