Mobility in Aachen is organized in an efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective way. The city administration works with many partners to ensure that there are attractive and easy-to-understand mobility offers. All mobility services in the Aachen region can be used and combined easily and across borders.

Route planner

The city of Aachen has put its new city navigation system online. It not only shows the fastest and most environmentally friendly routes through the city, but also provides other useful information. The Aachen city navigation system links all available mobility options in the region and makes it possible to plan a route that also includes various mobility options.

Stadtnavi is a regional alternative to other widely used navigation systems. All data is handled anonymously and securely in accordance with European data protection law. Current roadworks are displayed as well as relevant real-time data (e.g. parking garage occupancy, utilization of charging stations, availability of e-scooters and information about public transport). When planning routes, various means of transport are displayed as alternatives.

    The AVV: All transport companies in one transport association: In the Aachener Verkehrsverbund (AVV), all buses and trains on regular services can be used with one ticket. Timetables, fares and background information on the AVV can be found at www.avv.de

  • Tickets and prices

    You can buy single, day and mini-group tickets on all ASEAG buses. All buses and trains in the entire AVV area can be used with one ticket. For journeys beyond this area, you can also purchase the single long-distance ticket in NRW.

    The Deutschlandticket is a monthly subscription and costs 49 euros. It can be canceled monthly. It is valid in second class on public transport throughout Germany: bus, streetcar, light rail, subway, S-Bahn, regional rail, regional express.

  • Apps & digital offers

    Both AVV and ASEAG offer mobility apps for timetable information and bookings:

    naveo: The avv mobility app always shows you the fastest and best possible connection to your desired destination. Regardless of whether you want to use bus, train, bike, car, car/bike sharing or all of them in combination.

    eezy avv is the AVV's new electronic fare (eTarif) for bus & rail. Simply check in in the app, get on, travel comfortably to your destination and check out via the app. The price is calculated automatically. And it's particularly fair based on the linear kilometers traveled between the start and destination stops.

    movA: ASEAG's movA service combines various means of transportation in one app. Just register once and you can rent bikes and buy your bus ticket with the same app, which also shows the current departure times of buses at all stops. It is also suitable for corporate mobility management in companies.

  • Long-distance buses

    There are currently two long-distance bus stops in Aachen: The stop on Wilmersdorfer Straße (Hüls) can be reached by ASEAG bus lines 23 and 47 (bus stop "Wilmersdorfer Straße" and "Hüls" respectively). This stop is mainly used by long-distance buses heading to Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. A second stop is located in Henricistraße at Bendplatz near Aachen-West station, which can be reached by train and also by bus lines 1, 16, 33, 41, 43 and 73 (bus stop "Westbahnhof") or bus lines 7, 17, 27, 37 and 47 at the "Bendplatz" stop. This stop mainly serves domestic German connections and trips to the Benelux region as well as Paris and London.

  • Night buses

    At weekends and on the nights before public holidays, night buses depart from the Elisenbrunnen at 1.30 a.m., 2.30 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. to the city districts; there are also shared cabs that can be booked in advance (ASA). If you would like to continue your journey by cab at your exit stop, please ask the driver to call you a cab when you get in. The cab fare applies.

On foot

Every journey, regardless of the means of transport, begins and ends with a footpath. One in four journeys in Aachen is purely on foot. Walking is the oldest, healthiest and most social form of mobility, it is available to almost everyone at all times, causes no emissions and takes up the least space.

Sharing

The English word "sharing" translates as "sharing" and refers to the joint use of a resource, such as a bicycle, e-scooter or car. There are many different sharing offers in Aachen. The city recommends the movA app for booking and billing sharing services.


  • Car sharing

    Mobile at any time - without your own car!

    Car sharing is a system that offers the opportunity to use locally available vehicles at any time for any length of time. Car sharing is an environmentally friendly and inexpensive alternative to owning a car, especially for those who only need a car occasionally or want to consciously do without their own car. True to the motto "book - get in - drive", you can access Cambio vehicles easily and without complications. How it works: You reserve a car of your choice online via the Cambio app or via movA, pick it up at the specified car sharing station, drive as long and as far as you want and return it to the pick-up station. Billing is based on the time booked and kilometers driven.

  • Bike sharing

    The rental provider Velocity offers pedelecs for shared use on a short-term basis in Aachen and the StädteRegion. Electric, affordable, flexible, uncomplicated and environmentally friendly. Book without worries and without complications. This is how it works:

  • Cargo bike sharing

    In order to give as many citizens as possible access to this practical means of transportation, the city of Aachen operates a free cargo bike rental service together with committed partners from the urban community. The free cargo bikes in Aachen can be used by all adult citizens of the city for non-commercial purposes after mandatory registration.
