European Mobility Week 2026

Intergenerational Mobility: This is the theme of this year’s European Mobility Week. The event takes place every year from September 16–22.

EMW

All cities and municipalities that want to promote sustainable mobility can participate in European Mobility Week. Once again this year, the city of Aachen will take part in the initiative with numerous activities and events. Join us and get inspired.

Different locations, different events—you can find all the information and dates here.

Space for Ideas: Experience, Test, and Help Shape Mobility

Every September, city streets become a stage for sustainable mobility, both in Aachen and in many other European cities. European Mobility Week (EMW) is the world’s largest event promoting sustainable mobility. Check out the video about European Mobility Week.

During European Mobility Week, mobility is brought to life in many different ways for everyone in various locations throughout the city. Here, you can test solutions to the challenges surrounding urban mobility and get involved through your own initiatives. Existing ideas are further publicized, and local governments engage with residents through various channels. In this way, European Mobility Week gradually strengthens sustainable mobility in German cities and towns.

A motto for every year

Under the slogan “Mix and Move – Climate-Friendly Mobility,” a central theme is selected each year for the week: Whether it’s “Saving Energy,” “Sharing Street Space,” or “Mobility for All”—these themes highlight just how diverse and relevant modern mobility issues are today. They encourage people to question their habits and try something new.

Program for Participating

The EMW’s colorful lineup of events takes place at many locations throughout the city. The events are very diverse, and there’s something for everyone: You can test out different modes of transportation, participate in workshops, or attend lectures and guided tours. You’ll find information booths, activities, contests, guided tours, bike tours, and much more. Art, culture, and nature can also be explored in many different ways this week. All residents are warmly invited to these events. So here’s your chance to try something new and actively contribute to shaping the future of mobility in the city of Aachen.
