Bismarckstraße: Construction work moves on to the next section
Construction work on Bismarckstraße will move on to the next phase in mid-October. The section between Triebelstraße, Neumarkt, and Viktoriaallee, which has been under construction until now, will be fully reopened to traffic by then. Construction has been underway here since June 2026.
Starting October 19, construction work will resume on the section between Viktoriaallee (odd-numbered addresses) and just short of the corner of Drimbornstraße and Schenkendorfstraße. The work is expected to last until the end of February 2027. This will be followed by the reconstruction of the intersection of Bismarckstraße, Schenkendorfstraße, Drimbornstraße, and Beverstraße.
Vehicles can still access Bismarckstraße via Oppenhoffallee. Outbound bus traffic will continue to follow its route through Viktoriaallee, but will use the other lane—which has been reopened—on the side with the even house numbers. In the opposite direction, buses coming from Erzbergerallee will continue as before via Turpinstraße, Drimbornstraße, and Bismarckstraße to Oppenhoffallee.
The recommended and signposted detour for cyclists will continue to run along Frankenberger Straße. The parking garage on Viktoriaallee will remain accessible over the next few months. This short section of Viktoriaallee will be open to traffic in both directions. The curbside parking spaces there will be eliminated.
A special feature: In the two final construction phases of Bismarckstraße, a water main will be laid in the green belt along Viktoriaallee and extending to Drimbornstraße. This is intended to enable the Beverbach stream to be exposed in the median strips of Viktoriaallee and Oppenhoffallee at a later date.
According to the City of Aachen's current plans, construction work on Bismarckstraße is scheduled to be fully completed in the summer of 2027.
