"Aachen shows commitment" brings record number of clubs to the Stadtpark
With a new record number of participants, the "Aachen shows commitment" campaign day is entering the next round: on Saturday, May 30, the Stadtpark will be transformed into a large adventure and hands-on area from 12 noon to 5 pm. Almost 190 clubs, initiatives and organizations around the concert square will show how diverse voluntary commitment is in Aachen.
Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons emphasizes the importance of volunteering for social cohesion: "Aachen thrives on togetherness - on people who give their time, their ideas and their hearts for others. This is exactly what 'Aachen shows commitment' makes visible and tangible. I am looking forward to many encounters in the Stadtpark and to working with the volunteers to show how strong our cohesion is in Aachen."
Visitors can expect a varied day with numerous opportunities to join in and spontaneous activities throughout the grounds. On two stages, the participating clubs and groups present a colorful program of live music, dance, theater, sports and acrobatics demonstrations and expressly invite visitors to become active themselves and try out new things.
The competition also offers attractive prizes: The prizes include signed Alemannia jerseys, tickets for the Ladies in Black, vouchers for the Carolus-Therme and much more.
The day of action is aimed at all people who want to volunteer or find out about opportunities to get involved. Whether social, cultural, sporting or creative - the event showcases the wide range of voluntary work in Aachen.
Special attention will also be paid to making the event as accessible as possible. Parking spaces for people with limited mobility are available in the immediate vicinity of the site. The stage program will be accompanied by sign language interpreters. The paths and areas are largely wheelchair accessible and there are also barrier-free sanitary facilities. Visitors can also use a discounted day ticket in the Eurogress parking garage.
There is plenty of seating, a drinking fountain and a wide range of food and drink on site. Of course, you can also bring your own picnic.
The day of action is made possible by the support of numerous companies, including ASEAG, APAG, STAWAG and 100,5 das Hitradio. In doing so, they are setting an example for cohesion and social commitment in Aachen.
