Aachen Celebrates Diversity: The “Long Table of Diversity” Enters Its Fourth Year
Following the great success of previous years, the “Long Table of Diversity” will be set up for the fourth time on Saturday, July 4, starting at 12 noon on the Katschhof. The City of Aachen cordially invites all Aachen residents to come together and send a message of respectful coexistence, active diversity, and social cohesion. The event brings together people of all generations, cultures, and backgrounds for a large city picnic featuring music, conversations, information booths, and diverse encounters. Once again, the Katschhof will become a place of encounter, exchange, and participation right in the heart of Aachen.
Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons extends a warm invitation: “The ‘Long Table of Diversity’ showcases our vibrant urban community. It brings people together and stands for respectful coexistence in Aachen. We invite everyone to be a part of it.”
“Diversity Award” and “Integration Through Sports” Incentive Award: Visitors
can look forward to a varied program. In addition to the communal meal, the program also includes the ceremonial presentation of the “Diversity Award,” which is sponsored by the City of Aachen and the Committee for Equal Opportunity and Integration (formerly the Integration Council).
The Diversity Award honours the commitment of people, groups, organizations, companies and associations who are committed to respectful coexistence, participation and a good life together in an open and diverse city. The Aachen Diversity Award is intended to recognize this commitment, make it visible and contribute to the sustainable anchoring of the topic of diversity in the consciousness of urban society.
This year marks a special occasion: For the first time, the city’s “Integration through Sport 2026” award will be presented as a separate category within the “Diversity Award.” This year, sports clubs and initiatives that, through their projects and commitment, are particularly dedicated to integration, social participation, and a diverse community are also eligible to apply.
Get Involved and Connect with Others
: This year, we were once again able to bring together many clubs, organizations, and initiatives dedicated to diversity, inclusion, equal opportunity, and the promotion of democracy. At the “Market of Diversity,” visitors have the opportunity to learn about various topics and exchange ideas. In addition to the numerous information booths, there are also a variety of culinary highlights. The focus is on connection, exchange, and shared experiences.
All visitors are cordially invited to bring their own picnic. The table is set—please stop by.
