A warm welcome to the City of Aachen's Summer Games!
Summer vacation is finally just around the corner—and with it, of course, the City of Aachen’s summer activities. As always, the program offers a wide variety of options, so there’s something for everyone. There’s also a new feature that deserves special attention.
Whether it’s sports, games, crafts, nature, or art: Thanks to our collaboration with many partners throughout the city, everyone between the ages of 6 and 16 can enjoy exciting summer activities. There are also inclusive programs, which are marked accordingly. This gives parents and guardians the opportunity to have their children cared for in a professional and meaningful way.
Here’s the big news: For the first time ever, there won’t be a printed summer activities brochure this year. All activities, registration forms, and key information are now available exclusively at www.aachen.de/ferienspiele. So: Get comfortable on the couch, use your laptop or tablet to browse the calendar for the activities that suit you, and sign up.

Sports-Themed Summer Games in the Gillesbach Valley
: If you’re looking for an activity that doesn’t require registration, you’ve come to the right place: Run around, race, play—and have fun! The municipal Sports Department is once again hosting its sports-themed summer games during the summer break. From Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 21, all children ages six to eleven are invited to the sports hall at Branderhofer Weg 15 (Gillesbachtal) to take part in sports and games daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the supervision of three instructors. Participation in the summer program—Monday through Friday—is free for all children. Registration is not required. However, parents must fill out the consent form—available at www.aachen.de/ferienspiele—and have their children bring it with them. Please note: Children who arrive after 9:15 a.m. will unfortunately not be able to participate that day.
Sportswear and provisions
The children must come in sportswear suitable for the weather, bring some healthy provisions and sufficient drinks. Only indoor shoes are permitted in the hall.
Since the event ends at 1:00 p.m. each day, it is important that parents pick up their children at that time, if necessary. If a child is permitted to walk home alone, this must be indicated on the consent form.
Additional Opportunities
: Children also have the opportunity to earn parts of the German Sports Badge during the Sports Vacation Games, under the guidance of the instructors. To complete the Sports Badge, children also have the option of earning the required swimming certification (at their own risk!). This can be done during the published hours at the Brand and Süd swimming pools, as well as at the Ulla-Klinger-Halle. Participation is voluntary. An admission fee applies for the swimming pools.
As an additional activity, sports clubs will give children a chance to try out their respective sports. This activity will also take place free of charge as part of the summer games at the location described above between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The exact dates and participating clubs have not yet been determined.
