Starting August 10: Ulla-Klinger-Halle to close for six months
Following damage to the suspended ceiling above the teaching pool at the Brand Swimming Hall, all suspended ceilings in the city’s swimming pools were inspected. It was determined that the ceiling above the teaching pool and the lap pool at the Ulla-Klinger-Halle is in need of renovation. This renovation, which has been prepared over the past few months by the city’s building management department and the city’s sports department, will begin on Monday, August 10. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2027. During the renovation, the facility must remain closed to the public.
Fortunately, arrangements have been made to ensure that the diving pool can remain open continuously for school and club sports throughout the construction period. As an additional option for the general public, the Elisabethhalle—which is usually closed during summer vacation—will reopen as early as August 10. The exact opening hours will be announced at a later date.
School and club sports activities that cannot take place in the diving pool at the Ulla-Klinger-Halle will be distributed as best as possible among the other indoor swimming pools in Aachen. Schools and clubs have already been notified.
Because the facility was in need of renovation, water polo could no longer be played there. With the new ceiling in the Ulla-Klinger-Halle, this will once again be possible.
