City archive closed
The City Archives on Reichsweg in Aachen will be closed on Monday, July 13, due to an internal event. City Archives staff will also be unavailable by phone on that day.
The reading room will reopen as usual on Tuesday, July 14, at 9 a.m.
As the "memory of the city", the city archive preserves original documents from a thousand years of history. The archive holdings currently comprise a total of around ten kilometers of shelves, consisting of documents, files, plans and maps, photos and other types of sources. The oldest document is a deed from 1018, the most recent the current daily newspaper.
