Art Installation: Wild Animals at the Westpark Restroom
The restroom in Westpark, which opened in March, will be transformed into a colorful artwork next week by street artists working together with children and teenagers. The Youth Art School at the Bleiberger Fabrik in Westpark has launched the “Art in a Container” project. First, they will tackle the exterior walls of the new restroom facility.
The initiative is part of a larger project by Bleiberger Fabrik in Westpark: Through September 2026, a mobile project container will be available there as an open learning and meeting space for democratic education. The goal is to combine democratic education with artistic processes. During two-week workshop sessions, artists will work to encourage and invite young people from the neighborhood in particular to actively participate. However, the project is open to everyone.
The Climate and Environment Department, which designed the restroom in the park, welcomes the project and is happy to make the restroom’s exterior walls available for the campaign’s launch. This is sure to make it an eye-catcher: The theme is “Animals in Westpark,” because at the end of the 19th century, there was a small zoo here that was home to giant snakes, bears, and even tigers. Park visitors can look forward to seeing which animals will soon be frolicking around the restroom.
Important: The facility will remain open without restrictions during the work.
