The indoor swimming pool in the Aachen-Brand district has to remain closed until further notice. On Sunday (January 11), parts of the ceiling cladding came loose in the area of the small pool and fell into the water. The incident happened after public swimming and before the start of club sports, so no one was injured. An investigation is now underway to determine how the ceiling cladding came to fall. The entire hall will remain closed until the investigations have been completed.

In addition to the annual inspections, current visual inspections will be carried out in all indoor swimming pools at short notice. Specialist companies will be commissioned to inspect the ceiling structures during the course of the week.
