Special edition Senior*innencafé: Electronic patient file explained in an understandable way

The digitalization of the healthcare system is progressing: doctor's letters, findings and medication plans are increasingly being stored and exchanged digitally. The electronic patient record (EPR) is a key tool in this process, which is intended to give patients a better overview of their health data. However, it raises many questions, especially for people with little experience in the digital healthcare sector.

To provide guidance here, the OecherLab and AOK Rheinland/Hamburg are inviting you to a special edition of the Senior*innencafé on February 11, 2026. Entitled "Understanding the electronic patient file", the event is aimed specifically at senior citizens, relatives and anyone interested in learning about digital health in a calm and personal atmosphere.

The focus is on a practical explanation of the electronic patient file: What is the ePA? How does it work in everyday life? And what specific benefits does it offer patients? Experts from the AOK will explain in an understandable way how doctors, pharmacies and hospitals work with the ePA. A particular focus is on data protection and self-determination: What data is stored? What information can be released or blocked? And how do users retain control over their health data at all times?

Accompanied by coffee and conversation, the content will be clearly communicated. Practical demonstrations will show step by step how the ePA can be used and the benefits it offers for treatment, prevention and everyday personal health. Afterwards, there will be enough time for individual questions, personal support and discussion in a small group.

The OecherLab and AOK Rheinland/Hamburg want to create low-threshold and trusting access to digital healthcare with this special edition of the Senior Citizens' Café. The aim is to reduce fear of contact, impart knowledge and support senior citizens in using digital services in an informed and confident manner.
