Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons invites committed associations, initiatives and volunteers to take part in the "Aachen shows commitment" day of action. On May 30, 2026, the successful event will enter its third round and make the diversity of civic engagement visible in Aachen's Stadtpark from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Following the successful launch in 2024 and a further increase in participation last year, the "Aachen Shows Commitment" campaign day has established itself as a central meeting point for volunteering in the city. More than 160 associations and initiatives presented themselves at the second edition - impressive proof of the strength, diversity and growing importance of civic engagement in Aachen. In 2026, the Stadtpark will once again be dedicated to exchange, encounters and active participation.

Interested parties can look forward to a varied day of action with information and hands-on stands as well as an accompanying stage program. The offer is aimed at people of all ages and makes it possible to experience commitment in numerous areas - from social, sporting and educational projects to integration, environmental and cultural work to aid and emergency organizations that present their work in a practical way.

Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons emphasizes the importance of the day of action for the city society: "'Aachen Shows Commitment' brings together what makes our city strong: people who commit their time, ideas and passion to helping others. The great response in previous years and the more than 160 participating associations and initiatives have made a lasting impression on me. This year, I have the pleasure of accompanying the event as patron and cordially invite all those involved to show what their commitment stands for - and to inspire new people to volunteer together. Every contribution enriches our togetherness and creates connections."

Around 1,000 associations, organizations, initiatives and groups have already been contacted by email. Other interested groups can still register for participation until March 27.
