Enjoyment, music and atmosphere: "Spät am Markt" after-work market enters its second round

After last year's successful launch, the City of Aachen's Economic Development Agency is looking forward to the continuation of the "Spät am Markt" after-work market in 2026. The market will start on Thursday, May 7, and can be experienced on six further Thursdays in front of the town hall on Aachen's market square until October. MuKuVa e.V. is responsible for the organization in close cooperation with the city.

"With the Feierabendmarkt, we are pursuing the goal of further revitalizing the city centre and offering people an attractive after-work event. The feedback from 2025 was consistently positive, and we are delighted that the event can take place again this year," says Thomas Hissel, Aachen's Councillor for Social Affairs, Housing and Economic Affairs. "The Feierabendmarkt has proven to be a real magnet for the city center - not only for Aachen residents, but also for guests from the region and beyond."

Last year, the Feierabendmarkt attracted around 1,500 visitors per event. The concept with food trucks, drinks and varied music - from DJs to live bands - creates a relaxed atmosphere and brings the city center to life after work. Once again this year, guests can look forward to an exciting mix of culinary delights and musical highlights.

"Spät am Markt' is a convincing instrument for presenting Aachen as an attractive city to experience. Visitors can enjoy the city and at the same time the surrounding stores and restaurants also benefit from the additional attention," explains Dieter M. Begaß, Head of Economic Development of the City of Aachen.

Vincent von Horn, Mukuva e.V., gives a first foretaste of the start of 2026: "We are kicking off the season on May 7 with a musical highlight - the band Riz Andalas will be opening the Feierabendmarkt! We are looking forward to creating a great atmosphere on the market square in front of the historic town hall again this year."

The exact dates of the six events can be found on the website of the City of Aachen: www.aachen.de/feierabendmarkt .
