Local politics in the week from April 20 to 26
The coming week in local politics will be varied with four committee meetings and a meeting of the city council. Among other things, the Audit Committee will hold a special meeting.
Tuesday, April 21: The Housing
and Real Estate Committee will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The agenda will focus on a new concept for Aachen’s weekly market and a report on the development and planning of Richtericher Dell. The committee will also hear a report on the completion of the preliminary studies for the Büchel Old Town district.
Wednesday, April 22:
The special meeting of the Audit Committee will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Löwenstein Building on the Market Square. The only item on the agenda is a report on the audit of the 2024 financial statements.
At 5:00 p.m., the Aachen City Council will convene in the City Hall meeting room. Plans for the former Wehmeyer properties on Adalbertstraße will be presented. Of particular interest is also the announcement of the official results of the “Olympia” council referendum held on April 19. Additionally, the agenda includes the ordinance formally designating the “Altstadtquartier Büchel” redevelopment area.
Thursday, April 23The Senior Citizens’ Council meeting
will begin at 10 a.m. in the forum of the Adult Education Center (VHS) on Peterstraße. The agenda includes a presentation on cultural activities for senior citizens and Aachen’s outdoor dining scene. The Senior Citizens’ Council will also discuss the formation of the “2027 Senior Citizens’ Council Election” working group.
The Personnel and Administration Committee will begin its meeting at 5:00 p.m. in the Campus meeting room in the administration building at Maria-Theresia-Allee 38. It will report on the staffing situation and the City of Aachen’s current recruitment and branding efforts. Finally, a council motion regarding staff increases and refinancing will be discussed, taking into account the budget deliberations.
