As part of this year's "Long Table of Diversity", the City of Aachen and the Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration (formerly the Integration Council) are awarding the Aachen "Diversity Prize" for the 15th time. Applications are also still possible in the new category "Integration through Sport". The City of Aachen and the Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration are looking forward to receiving numerous submissions.

"The City of Aachen's Diversity Award stands for what makes our city special: openness, respect and a strong sense of togetherness. Many initiatives impressively demonstrate how commitment to diversity is lived out in everyday life. We would like to honor this commitment," says Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons.

The "Diversity Award" honours the commitment of people, groups, organizations, companies and associations who are committed to respectful coexistence, participation and a good life together in an open and diverse city. The aim is to make positive examples visible and set an example for an inclusive society in which origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation or physical abilities do not represent barriers. Both own projects and third-party initiatives can be proposed. A formal application is not necessary.

Many initiatives do important work every day to break down barriers and enable social participation for everyone. Making this commitment visible and strengthening it is of central importance to us as the Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration," says Baran Yenen, Chairman of the Committee for Equal Opportunities and Integration.

Presentation of the “Integration through Sport”
Award This year, the city’s “Integration through Sport” award will be presented for the first time as a separate category within the “Diversity Award.” Nominations for this category may be submitted by sports clubs and initiatives whose projects and commitment demonstrate a special dedication to integration, social participation, and a diverse community. Sports clubs provide an important platform for interaction, participation, and respectful and tolerant coexistence.

The award ceremony will take place as part of the "Long Table of Diversity" on Saturday, July 4, at the Katschhof - a big celebration for the entire urban community with music, information stands, picnics and lots of encounters.
