Local politics in the week from September 8 to 14
The second week of September is well filled with eight local political meetings. Among other things, three district councils and the citizens' forum are meeting. The meeting of the Committee for Labor, Economic and Regional Development originally scheduled for Wednesday is cancelled.
Tuesday, September 9,
The meeting of the Committee for Schools and Further Education begins at 5 p.m. in room 207 of the administration building on Mozartstraße. The committee will take note of the admission figures at Aachen schools for the 2025/2026 school year as well as the summary information on the PRIMUS school trial. The recommendation of free bicycles and repairs at schools is also part of the agenda.
At the same time, the Eurogress operating committee meets in conference room 3 of the Eurogress on Monheimsallee. It discusses the Eurogress annual financial statements for 2024, the status of the renovation of the music shell in the Kurpark and the Öcher Bend, which will take place for the 100th time in 2027.
The citizens' forum starts at 6 p.m. in the council meeting room in the town hall and discusses four motions. The topics: the installation of crosswalks on Oppenhoffallee, education and action weeks against anti-Semitism in Aachen, littering in the eastern district and making the special use permit for outdoor catering more flexible.
Wednesday, September 10,
The Aachen-Laurensberg district council meets at 5.30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Aachen-Laurensberg district office on Rathausstraße. The planning decision on the new extension of the southern Püngelerstraße and the ecological cemetery development concept will be discussed there. The "Expansion of the university hospital" development plan will also be discussed.
The meeting of the Aachen-Eilendorf district council also begins at 5.30 pm in the meeting room of the Aachen-Eilendorf district office on Heinrich-Thomas-Platz. The district council will deal with the allocation of district disposal and investment funds. The elimination of the accident blackspot at the "Von-Coels-Straße/Heckstraße" junction and the ginkgo trees in Josefstraße are also on the agenda.
The Aachen-Haaren district council meets at 6 p.m. in the meeting room of the Bürgerhaus on Germanusstraße. There will be an exchange with the head teachers of the municipal elementary school in the district. Also on the agenda are the various traffic regulations in Haaren that were introduced during the construction of the Haarbachtal bridge and whether these should be retained. The allocation of district disposal and investment funds is another topic.
Thursday, September 11,
The Personnel and Administration Committee meets at 5 p.m. in the administration building on Maria-Theresia-Allee, Campus meeting room. The meeting will focus on the creation of five half-time positions for educators in the area of open all-day schools.
At the same time, the meeting of the planning committee takes place in the meeting room of the town hall. The committee will present the plans to make the Aachen streams visible. Two development plans "Freunder Weg/Eisenbahnweg" and "Grauenhofer Weg/Stettiner Straße" are also discussed.
