Reading room in the city archive closed
The reading room of the city archive on Aachener Reichsweg will be closed from Monday, November 3, to Friday, November 7, for inventory checking work. From Tuesday, November 11, the reading room will be open again at the usual times - Tuesdays from 1 pm to 5 pm, Wednesdays from 9 am to 5 pm and Thursdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
As the "memory of the city", the city archive preserves original documents from a thousand years of history. The archive holdings currently comprise a total of around ten kilometers of shelves, consisting of documents, files, plans and maps, photos and other types of sources. The oldest document is a deed from 1018, the most recent the current daily newspaper.
