The Forster Linde becomes colorful! - Street painting campaign in the middle of the neighborhood

The center of the neighborhood around the Forster Linde and St. Katharina church will be given a new, colorful face during the autumn vacations. The public space will be artistically designed together with children, young people and local residents. The aim is to enhance the square and create a visible sign of participation, community and identification in the neighborhood.

At the creative participation workshop held as part of the street festival on 26 September, numerous ideas were collected on how the area could be given a colorful design. The Aachen-based artist and designer Patricia Yasmine Graf has translated these suggestions into an artistic concept that serves as a template for implementation.

"One of the things that inspired me personally was the children's book Frederik, which tells the story of a mouse who collects colors and sunbeams to bring light and hope in dark times," explains Patricia Yasmine Graf. "For my work, this means that urban art can enhance spaces, connect people and make positive energy visible - an approach that starts with the design of one's own environment and radiates out into the community."

Graf sees her work as a contribution to a vibrant and inclusive urban society: "As an artist, I see it as my responsibility to have a positive impact on my environment from within my own radius and to inspire people to do the same."

Together with the local people, Kirchstraße at Forster Linde is now also being designed with cheerful, colourful, geometric shapes that enliven the area and harmonize with the surroundings. The new joint design invites people to experience the area around the church of St. Katharina in a new way and to discover it as a space for everyone.

Implementation will take place from October 16 to 18, 2025, and interested people of all ages are cordially invited to pick up a paintbrush or roller and help beautify their living environment.
