Facility management: Ricarda Bruns becomes new technical operations manager

Ricarda Bruns is the new technical operations manager of the City of Aachen's facility management department. She was the only candidate to impress in the selection process. The city council subsequently gave its approval at this year's July meeting. The 51-year-old graduate engineer and architect is moving from Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW, where she works as head of department, to the City of Aachen.

"We are very happy to have found a suitable technical operations manager for facility management in Ricarda Bruns and we are all looking forward to working with her," says Heiko Thomas, the city's Head of Climate and Environment, Municipal Operations and Buildings.

Ricarda Bruns is also looking forward to her new professional challenge: "I want to implement the necessary transformation in the construction industry and in administration and bring it into line with established processes. I'm really looking forward to working with lots of new people to make public spaces fit for the future and to get involved in the city I've lived in for a long time."

Ricarda Bruns will start work at the City of Aachen at the beginning of November. She will head the Facility Management department together with Jens Hauschild, Commercial Operations Manager. As a municipal service provider, Facility Management is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of around 750 municipal properties and 200 other objects - from historic buildings such as Aachen City Hall to kindergartens, schools, museums, administrative buildings, monuments, fountains, parks and much more.
