Lena tom Dieck becomes the new Head of Cultural Operations of the City of Aachen
At its meeting on November 5, the Aachen City Council appointed Lena tom Dieck as the new head of the city's cultural operations. A graduate in theater and media studies, she currently works in the management of the stages of the city of Cologne. She will take up her new position in Aachen on March 1, 2026.
Head of Cultural Affairs Heinrich Brötz explains: "Filling the position was challenging because the management of the cultural sector requires various skills and management experience as well as professional and social qualities. Ms. tom Dieck convinced the cultural policy selection committee that she will shape this important position in Aachen's cultural landscape in a professional and committed manner."
Lena tom Dieck will bring a wealth of experience and expertise from her 15 years of work as a cultural manager to Aachen, including on the topics of digitalization, interculture and opportunities for cooperation between municipal institutions and the independent scene. She has worked for the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the FFT Düsseldorf, the Konzerthaus Dortmund, the Hartware MedienKunstVerein, for the Regionalverband Ruhr in the Interkultur Ruhr project, for the LWL-Industriemuseum at the Henrichshütte Hattingen site and in the management of the Bühnen der Stadt Köln. Lena tom Dieck is a trained event technician and studied theater and media studies.
On the occasion of the Council's decision, she sends the following message: "I am very much looking forward to new tasks and challenges in Aachen. Culture is created through exchange and cooperation. Together with the cultural players involved, I would like to further develop the cultural venues in Aachen as open spaces for exchange, creativity and curiosity."
