New after-work market "Spät am Markt" starts in Aachen

The new after-work format "Spät am Markt" will celebrate its premiere on Thursday, June 5, on the market square in Aachen's city center. From 4 pm to 10 pm, the square in front of the town hall will be transformed into a lively meeting place for connoisseurs. With regional specialties, music and a special atmosphere, "Spät am Markt" will invite you to a relaxed end to the day once a month in future.

Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen is delighted about the new offer in the city center: "With 'Spät am Markt', we are creating a new, lively meeting place in the heart of our city that brings people together and allows them to experience the special atmosphere of Aachen's market. This new format is an important component of our strategy to revitalize the city centre: it combines enjoyment, culture and encounters and invites people to linger after work."

Whether street food, wine or craft beer - around ten selected stands offer a varied gastronomic offering. The focus is on regional producers and local restaurateurs who ensure quality and variety. The offer is complemented by live music and DJ sets that create an atmospheric ambience.

Thomas Hissel, Councillor for Housing, Social Affairs and the Economy, explains: "The new after-work market specifically strengthens our local suppliers and bricks-and-mortar retailers. With an attractive culinary and cultural offering directly in front of the town hall, we are creating incentives to visit the city center in the evening hours. In this way, we are making a concrete contribution to promoting the regional economy and sustainably revitalizing Aachen as a retail location."

MuKuVa e. V. organizes the market in close cooperation with the City of Aachen's business development department. "Spät am Markt" takes place on the first Thursday of every month. The other dates are: July 3, August 7, September 4 and October 2.
