Aachen now has a sports portal

With the relaunch of the municipal website Aachen.de, the new sports portal has also been launched. The added value of the portal was presented yesterday, May 20, by Dr. Markus Kremer, Head of the Department of Sport, Petra Prömpler, Lara Egyptien, Head of the Department of Sports Development, Sports Promotion and Operation of Sports Facilities, Dr. Sebastian Breuer, Chairman of the Sports Committee and Björn Jansen, Chairman of the Stadtsportbund Aachen e.V. (Aachen Municipal Sports Association). "With the new sports portal, we have created a central information platform and contact point for the topic of sport in Aachen, which provides all citizens with a bundled presentation of the activities and information relating to Aachen's sports landscape. As a result, we now have an even more networked view of the topic of "sport in Aachen" and have given it a much more prominent position within the cityscape. And at a good time, as sport in Aachen will be in the spotlight over the next few weeks in particular," says Kremer.

Matching and interactive map

All information on the topic of sport can now be found much faster and more conveniently at aachen.de/sport. The newly implemented club search and direct matching to clubs and their homepages is particularly interesting for all citizens interested in sports. They can find out specifically which clubs offer certain sports and find direct contacts by being redirected to the club pages. Jansen praises the added value of the sports portal: "The portal allows you to see the variety of sports available in Aachen and find target group-specific offers." Breuer is also enthusiastic about the new functions: "I particularly like the interactive map, where I can search for sports in my district: What do I want to do, where do I want to do it? I'm then shown the exact location." In the new map display for publicly accessible and non-publicly accessible sports facilities in the city of Aachen, you can use a filter function to get a direct overview of sports facilities in the respective district.

Prömpler is delighted that sport now has a new presence on the internet: "This has given sport a completely different role. You can now find sport bundled together and not in many different places. That helps us and certainly helps the public too." "Of course, we are still happy to advise citizens on finding sports activities and clubs by phone," adds Egyptien.

Campaign for sport in Aachen

The launch of the sports portal also marks the start of a sports-themed campaign. A total of five different motifs can be seen throughout the city via poster and bus advertising, digital screens, city cards and social media. The idea behind the campaign is to show well-known sports in well-known places in Aachen - but in such a way that they don't fit together. For example, ice hockey players can be found in the Coronation Hall of Aachen City Hall.
