Meeting of the citizens' forum

The next meeting of the Citizens' Forum will take place next Tuesday, May 27, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium (new building) of the Inda Gymnasium, Gangolfsweg 52. At the meeting, three citizens' applications will be discussed and previous developments on a citizens' application from 2023 will be presented.

A citizens' petition in accordance with Section 24 GO NRW from 2023 had suggested measures to calm traffic in Raerener Straße, Wilbankstraße and Magelspfad in Aachen-Sief. The administration presents the developments to date and the results of speed measurements carried out. Possible further steps will be discussed at the meeting.

Another application addresses the inadequate street lighting in Zedernweg in Oberforstbach from the residents' point of view. It is suggested that additional lanterns should be installed in order to improve the residential and traffic situation in the evening and at night. For comparison: while there are currently only four lanterns in Zedernweg, there are seven in the neighboring, shorter Wacholderweg.

In Gabriele-Münter-Straße in the West development area in Kornelimünster, residents want traffic-calming measures. The background to this is the increasing traffic in the area of a heavily frequented playground in the so-called painters' quarter, as well as several blind bends. Suggestions include mirrors, speed bumps and signs.

A resident of Dinkermichsweg in Walheim requests on behalf of his neighbourhood that the danger posed by vehicles permanently parked at the Dinkermichsweg/Prämienstraße junction be minimized. The confusing traffic situation leads to dangerous situations. The resident therefore requests the introduction of an absolute stopping ban in the area mentioned.

All Aachen residents are cordially invited to take part in the Citizens' Forum meeting and join in the discussion. Everyone is welcome and every opinion is important. Further information on the meeting and the agenda items can be found in the council information system for citizens at aachen.de.
