Artificial intelligence in the choir - talk concert at the music school

FLOW, the music school's choir project and the top address for a cappella pop in Aachen, not only stands for top-class performances and sophisticated arrangements, but is also breaking new ground in its rehearsal methods: FLOW 2024 launched an innovative project called "Artificial Intelligence in the Choir" to harness the possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) for more efficient rehearsal work. The focus here was on the use of AI systems in the development of so-called "teach-me tracks". The project was funded by the Amateur Music Fund of the German Bundestag.

The KI project, its development stages and the choir's working methods will be presented at the talk concert on Thursday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in the music school's chamber music hall. The possibilities, but also the current limitations, of processing choral sound using voice generators will be demonstrated. And, of course, the FLOW choir does what it does best: Because with groovy songs, there's plenty on the ear!

The FLOW choir was founded in 2017 at the music school of the city of Aachen and has been inspiring audiences with modern and soulful a cappella pop ever since. With cool beats and cover songs arranged especially for them, FLOW was able to achieve considerable success and realize projects shortly after its foundation.

In addition to 2nd place in the TV show "The Best Choir in the West" in 2018, a gold diploma and special jury prize at the international choir competition in Maastricht in 2019 and self-produced music videos, three CDs have now been produced. With a good 35 singers aged between 20 and 36, FLOW brings a breath of fresh air to the choral scene and captivates audiences with its groove.
