Aachen Diversity Award 2025: City and Integration Council look forward to numerous applications
As part of the "Festival of Diversity" on Saturday, August 30, the City of Aachen and the Integration Council will once again award the Aachen Diversity Prize. The prize honours the commitment of people, groups, organizations, companies and associations who are committed to respectful coexistence, participation and a good life together in an open and diverse city. The aim is to make positive examples visible and to set an example for an inclusive society in which origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation or physical abilities do not represent barriers.
The award ceremony is currently taking place at the Katschhof - as part of the "Long Table of Diversity", a festival for the entire urban community with music, information stands, picnics and, of course, many encounters. The Aachen Diversity Award is intended to recognize this commitment and make it visible, thus contributing to a sustainable anchoring of the topic of diversity in the consciousness of urban society.
All natural and legal persons, associations, institutions, the Integration Council and the city administration are invited to submit proposals. Both own projects and third-party initiatives can be proposed. A formal application is not necessary. The award is presented in the form of a high-profile presentation of the award winners during the event. In individual cases, project-related support may be provided.
The award ceremony is part of the "Festival of Diversity 2025". Just like the annual naturalization ceremonies, which will take place over two days for the first time this year - on 29 and 30 August - due to the number of 2,326 newly naturalized citizens. Afterwards, Lord Mayor Sibylle Keupen invites you to the "Long Table of Diversity" at Katschhof on August 30 from 12 noon. Visitors can expect a varied stage program, information stands, music and many enriching encounters.
"Last year's renaming of the former Integration Award as the Diversity Award was an important step towards recognizing even more strongly the commitment to a cosmopolitan and diverse society in Aachen," says Rolf Frankenberger, Head of the Department of Housing, Social Affairs and Integration of the City of Aachen. "This year, we are continuing this tradition and continuing to honor exceptional achievements that stand for cohesion and respect in our city."
The Integration Council and the City of Aachen are looking forward to setting a strong signal for cohesion, openness and diversity together with the urban community.
Proposals and applications can be sent to the address "Stadt Aachen, Fachbereich Wohnen, Soziales und Integration, Geschäftsstelle des Integrationsrates, 52058 Aachen" by June 13.
