Tree felling in Schönau Castle Park

During the last tree inspection in the area of the Schönau Castle park, the tree maintenance department of Aachen's municipal services discovered damage to an approximately 80-year-old horse chestnut tree by the pond. The trunk and the roots of the tree are cracked. It is no longer safe for traffic. The tree, which was already leaning, has already sagged. The possibility of the tree toppling into the pond can no longer be ruled out in the near future.

For this reason, Aachener Stadtbetrieb will have to remove the chestnut tree next Thursday, May 15. The felling will be carried out in consultation with the City of Aachen's Climate and Environment Department. A replanting is planned
